Volunteers Needed for Portland Roadster Show Booth

Any members that can bring their car/child to be at the Portland Roadster Show PQMRA booth for any of the days of the event (March 16-18), please contact PQMRA member David Ward at david.ward@fosterfarms.com, ASAP. We had a car drop out and can use another car/family to help out at the booth!

Next Ride Day – March 24, 2012

The next PQMRA Ride Day will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the racetrack at Alpenrose Dairy, 6149 SW Shattuck Rd., Portland, OR 97221. Kids ages 5 to 16 can test drive a quarter midget race car under the supervision of a trainer. Cost is $20 per child, as required by the Quarter Midgets of America, our national organization. Dress warmly and wear lightweight shoes. No boots or open toed shoes! No shorts! Bring a change of clothes in case of rain. A car, expert supervision and safety equipment, including a helmet, gloves, neck collar and wrist restraints, will be provided. PQMRA to attend Portland Roadster Show

Look for PQMRA members at the PQMRA booth at the Portland Roadster Show being held at the Portland Expo Center, Portland, OR, March 16-18. If you are a member already, this will be a great opportunity to help out the club and mingle with your fellow members while checking out the cool cars. Volunteer to help in the booth now by contacting Greg Mahoney at motorcrateracing@gmail.com. If you are just interested in quarter midget racing and want to find out more, this will be a great opportunity to talk to members, see the quarter midget cars and check out the club. PQMRA to Exhibit at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Event

Come watch PQMRA racers this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and Feb. 12, 2012, as they perform an exhibition race at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam being held at the Rose Garden Arena in the Rose Quarter in Portland, OR. This is just one of the ways the PQMRA drivers are preparing for the big QMA Western Grands race to be held July 21-29, 2012, at the Alpenrose Dairy quarter midget rack in Portland, OR. If you are a interested in finding out more about quarter midget racing, this is a perfect entertainment venue and you’ll be able to check out the cars and talk to the drivers and handlers. If you are a member and haven’t already signed up for the event, please check your e-mail and do so. The more racers, the better! This is sure to be a spectacular event for anyone who loves racing! New Date for the 2012 States Race

The 2012 States race date has been moved up one week to June 9-10, 2012, due to the requirement that there be at least two weeks between a States race and a Grands race. Please make a note of the new date.

January Club Meeting

The January club meeting will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 7pm, at the Round Table Pizza at 10150 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, Beaverton, OR 97005. Agenda will include RCP’s, Grands update, tower update, the national meeting, our club schedule, and more. See you there!

Region 9 Winter Meetings

The next two Region 9 meetings (not club meetings) will be Saturday, January 21, and Saturday, February 18, at 10am at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 15920 West Valley Highway, Tukwila, WA 98188. 2nd Annual Region 9 Swap Meet

The 2nd Annual Region 9 Swap Meet will be held Saturday, January 28, from 8:30am to noon at the Little Wheels racetrack located at Frontier Park, 21800 Meridian East, Graham, WA 98338. Don’t rely on just the internet to sell those parts that have been sitting around! Sell them at the swap meet. Cost is $10 per spot to sell and there is a camping fee of $10. 2012 Winter Blast Quarter Midget Race

The I-5 Quarter Midget Club is hosting the 2012 Winter Blast quarter midget race Sunday, 1/8/12, inside the Paviion at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds. This is an indoor DIRT TRACK race. Cost is $25 per car and there is an open tire rule – treaded tires allowed. Fuel must be the 89 Octane from Toads Gas Station at 740 E. Main St., Elma, WA.

The race will start with safety and sign-in from 8am to 9am. Pit meeting at 9am with practice following. There will be two sets of heat races and one main event per class. Please RSVP, if possible, to I-5qmc@hotmail.com to let them know you plan on attending and to let them know what class of car you are bringing.
